From January 1st until January 31st I wore the same pair of shoes. The same exact pair of duck boots!
Now let me clarify a few things. I put them on my feet and wore them out in public at least once a day. Maybe not the entire day but typically most of it. Someone other than my family saw me wearing them every single day!
You are probably wondering why on earth I did this…part of me is wondering that as well!
Around the 16th of January I realized that I had worn these shoes everyday! At that moment I decided to make point to where them everyday for the duration of the month. You know just to see if it was possible…to see if I could make them cute every day! LOL
It was HARD! It’s not like this was a pair of combat boots that you can literally wear with everything!!! This is a pair of winter boots that you can wear in the snow, rain or mud! Mind you I live in Florida, so luckily it was a little chilly in January or I would’ve been very warm!
Regardless of how hard it was I had to get super creative with how I wore them! I did lots of Pinterest research which definitely helped a ton!!!
Duck boots = shameless duck face LOL
I pretty much wore leggings and a different color v-neck with a plaid shirt every day! 😂 It was comfy and looked good!
Who would’ve thought a floral skate skirt could look good with duck boots?!
This was like a personal 30 day challenge! I have NEVER completed an entire 30 day challenge before! Like NEVER! I have done the squat challenge, water challenge, Instagram monthly challenges and probably tons of other random challenges that I can’t remember because I didn’t finish them!
These challenges are a lot like our goals. We write them at the beginning of the year and after a few days, weeks or months we forget about them. It’s like a bad habit we want to break but never do!
I have always heard that it takes 21 days to make or break a new habit.
Now the question is how do you make it to that 21 day mark?! How exactly does one stay on track with their goals?
3 Keys to Staying on Track with Your Goals
1. Start Simple
I feel like most people set themselves up for failure by picking wayyy to many things to do at once! You choose yoga, cross fit, marathon training, along with 2 hours of reading, volunteering at the humane society and guitar lessons all at the same time!
Now lets be serious on a good day you have a hard time doing 3 push-ups and finishing a one page essay that’s due at midnight! And that’s okay! No one is asking you to be a super human!
Sometimes its better to just take a few things and do them in excellence!
Get a couple of wins under your belt! Then you will have enough confidence and momentum to move onto bigger and better accomplishments!
2. Use Visuals
So I have this friend Pinny and I am so confident in her advice that I typically go to her before Google! I go to her for fashion advice, fun recipes and super cool workouts!
Confession : Pinny is short for Pinterest LOL
But really Pinterest is AMAZING!!! There are sooo many creative people and sooo many fun ideas! Pinny has this way of letting you dream bigger then you originally wanted to. Example: You go on Pinterest to look up birthday party ideas and 4 hours later you have planned an extravagant gala for your soon to be 5 year old’s birthday complete with gold plates, doves, floating lanterns and glitter TONS of glitter!
Now what does Pinny have to do with sticking to your goals?! She can be sooo helpful in starting them and following through! If you search “30 day challenge” you will find thousands of ideas but the best part is these ideas come with templates!
These templates are your visuals! They are you road map to successfully completing your goals! You can track you workouts, food logs, study time, pretty much anything! Everyday you look at all of the things you have accomplished it pushes you to keep going! Having something to physically look at every day will help keep your eye on the prize!
You know that one friend…the one that tells you to put down the donuts and is ALWAYS saying “Shouldn’t you be studying?!”
Did their voice just pop up in your head…yeah mine did too!
Know I now that at times they can be a tad bit pushy I mean it is just one donut right?!
WRONG!!! Listen to them!!!
That friend should be your best friend! They have the best intentions for you! They are what we like to call an accountability partner! They keep you accountable to all of things that left to your on devices you would not see through!
Be honest if (insert friends name here) wouldn’t text you to check on you the night before your big exam you would binge watch Making a Murderer while eating a large pizza…by yourself!
Having that person or team in your corner is literally everything! Accountability is key to life! Not only do they help keep you on track with your goals but they also celebrate you when you accomplish your goals! They are like your personal cheerleaders!
Okay guys so we are all going to grab our accountability partners make some super cute visuals and keep it simple!
What challenge are you going to take this month?!
I am personally challenging myself to drink 8 glasses of water a day and spend 1 hour aside from homework and already required reading to study for my classes! I’ll share my results at the end of the month!
